I’m starting to think about spring, wishing that it was coming along a little faster than it is where I live. Scrolling around for spring-themed cross stitch patterns, I kept seeing patterns for bees so I thought I’d make a little collection of bee cross-stitch patterns.
Bees are so important for food and flower production, so they’re definitely worth celebrating in stitching. Here are a few of my favorite bee cross-stitch patterns.
Cross Me Not has a cute little bee that uses seven colors and is 24 stitches wide by 25 tall.
How about a bee with a honeycomb like background? This pattern from Hoop Modern Stitch on Etsy has a lot of background and a little bee. It’s worked in four colors and is 125 by 125 stitches, or just less than 9 inches all around.
Lucie Heaton designed a bee cross stitch pattern that was intended to be stitched and sold as a fundraiser for victims of the Manchester bombing in 2017. It looks like if just uses two colors, but some metallic thread for the gold stripes would be really pretty.
I love the details on the wings on this bee design from PyroDogPins on Etsy. It’s 135 by 92 stitches and uses 13 colors.
This free bee from DMC via LoveCrafts is also quite cute. It uses five colors and is a great one for beginners.
Speaking of details, bring a boho bee to life when you stitch up this fantastic pattern from Wild Bluebell Patterns on Etsy. This one is 138 by 135 stitches, or about 9.9 by 9.6 inches on 14 count fabric. It uses 15 colors, and while it looks great on dark fabric you could also do it on ecru or even a light blue if you wanted.
Or how about this pretty bee covered in flowers and pollen? This design is from Crystal Feather Crafts and measures 151 by 101 stitches, which comes out to 10.8 by 7.2 inches when stitched up. It uses 15 colors.
Bees play a vital role in our ecosystem, pollinating crops and flowers and contributing to food production around the world. They are responsible for pollinating approximately one-third of the food we eat, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without bees, our food system would be severely impacted, making them a crucial part of our lives and worth celebrating in many different ways.
One way to honor the importance of bees is through cross-stitching. Whether you’re an experienced stitcher or just starting out, there are plenty of bee-themed patterns to choose from. Not only are these patterns fun to create, but they can also serve as a reminder of the important role that bees play in our world.
There are countless bee cross-stitch patterns available online, ranging from simple designs to more intricate and detailed pieces. Some patterns feature just one bee, while others depict entire hives or swarms. You can even find patterns that incorporate honeycomb designs or floral elements for a more complete and colorful composition.
