The other day I came across a list of cross-stitch designers that I hadn’t seen before, and I decided I would start picking some of them at random to share their page and a pattern or two from them with you.
It’s easy to think that Etsy is everything when it comes to cross-stitch designers, and while there are a lot of great designers on that platform, lots of people sell directly on their own websites, too, and you might not ever know about them if you don’t have someone to introduce them to you.
So today, meet Ardith Design, also know as Amanda Mae, a Maryland-based cross stitch designer who sells digital patterns, kits and other supplies for cross stitchers.
She has a variety of designs on her site, but the one that first caught my eye was this Chesapeake Blue Crab pattern. Which I guess totally makes sense since she’s from Maryland, but I just love the look of it and how it feels like summer.
This project would be great to stitch up for a beach house or if you have a beach-themed room in your home. It can be made into a little pillow or framed as it is.
The design is 60 by 59 stitches, and it looks to me like it could be stitched with a variegated blue thread, but it might be done with different colors of blue instead. The fabric she used is really fun, too, but you can use a plain white or off white as you like depending on what you have available and what works with your decor.
Ardith Design has a few fun ocean-themed designs if that’s a genre you like. I also liked the blue heron chart, which features a large blue heron and some little fish.
