Camper Cross Stitch Patterns

June 11, 2024 by Sarah White

Recently I shared a post of camping cross stitch patterns, but if you’re more of a caravan type camper, this post is for you. Let’s check out some cute camper cross stitch patterns for folks who drive their campsite from place to place.

I think I mentioned Camp Cross Stitch on Etsy in that last post, because they have a lot of cute RV themed camping cross stitch designs, as well as some with tents. The one I picked to share is RV We There Yet?, which is really cute and you could customize the colors to suit your rig if you want. It fits in a 4 inch hoop and would be super cute to have in your RV.

Little Dove Samplers has a cute design with a classic camper that cays Caravan Days are Happy Days. It measures 71 by 91 stitches, which comes out to 5 by 6.5 inches/12.7 by 16.5 cm on 14 count fabric.

Or check out Happy Camper from Hartland Quilt Shop, which features a retro camper being pulled by a truck with a cat in the back. You can change the colors or other details to suit your setup better. As shown it uses 12 colors and fits in an 8 by 10 frame, with a stitch count of 109 by 84 stitches.

If you like seasonal decor for your camper (or your home) you’ll want to stitch up a set of these three-dimensional campers from Living on the Rainbow. You can buy the patterns individually or as a set, which is linked here, though the summer caravan is shown. These pincushions are made with 18 count fabric and come out to 1.7 by 2 inches/4.5 by 5.5 cm. They’d be so cute all together on a little shelf all year, or you could turn them into ornaments that hang somewhere in your camper.

If you’d like to grab a kit because you don’t keep all your supplies in your camper, try this Happy Camper design from Diane Arthurs. It says Home is Where We Park It, and the kit includes 14 count fabric, all the floss you need and a needle as well as the chart. The pattern comes out to 8.75 by 6.75 inches, or 22.2 by 17 cm.

Easy Ways to Make Your Cross Stitch Better

The post over at The Crafty Mummy has the click-baity title of “Is there a right or wrong way to cross stitch?” Of course the answer is no. As with any other craft, as long as you are happy with the results you’re doing it right and no one should try to convince you otherwise.

That said, there are things that you can do to make your cross stitch a little better if you aren’t totally happy with the way your projects are looking. They might not be considered the “right way,” but they are important things to think about and if you want to deviate from these “rules” at least you’ll know that you’re doing it.

You can head over there to read all the tips, but it’s things like making sure your stitches are all going in the same direction (meaning you stitch the bottom legs of a row all in the same direction, then work back and stitch all the top legs in the same direction). You wouldn’t think something like that would make a huge difference until you don’t do it and then you can’t unsee it.

Most of things things aren’t rules so much as they are reminders to be consistent in what you are doing as you work a project. So however you start doing things like stitch direction or the number of strands of floss (I might even add using a hoop versus not, since the hoop can stretch the fabric and change the tension of the stitches a bit) you should continue in that way throughout the project in order for it to look its best.

Head over to The Crafty Mummy to read the rest of her list, then come back here if you have something to add. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
