I was trying to come up with a motif that is more about the harvest time of fall than specific to Thanksgiving, and I had the idea to look for some cornucopia cross stitch patterns. These would be pretty to display for Thanksgiving or throughout the fall season to celebrate the harvest.
If you want to keep it super simple, try the vintage cornucopia pattern from Callies Cozy Crafts, which is a teensy 30 by 28 stitches. It fits perfectly in the 3-inch hoop, with a finished size of 2.25 by 2 inches/5.4 by 5.1 cm on 14 count fabric. It uses 11 colors.
Another easy and cute project is this simple small cornucopia from Anabellas Shop. It’s shown made into a little pillow but you could also frame it. The project is 80 by 96 stitches, and is shown worked on 16 count fabric. The pattern doesn’t indicate but I think it’s about 13 colors.
I love the autumn tones in this pixel style cornucopia pattern from Threading Our Journey. This pattern is 71 by 56 stitches and uses 16 colors. On 14 count fabric it comes out to 5.1 by 4 inches or 12.9 by 10.2 cm. This one would be great on a cream colored fabric.
Alternatively, the variety of colors in this cornucopia pattern from Eccentric Avenue, which fits in a 10 inch hoop when worked on 18 count fabric. The finished pattern on that count is 8 by 8 inches, or 20.3 cm.
Prefer a printed pattern? This autumn harvest cornucopia cross stitch pattern from Kitty and Me Designs comes as a printed pattern leaflet, which is nice if you prefer an analog experience. This design is 116 by 85 stitches, which comes out to 8.25 by 6 inches, or about 21 by 15.24 cm, on 14 count fabric or 28 count Laguna over 2 threads. It calls for 54 colors and two blends for the cross stitching. Nine colors (which are also used in the stitching) are used for backstitching, and one color for knots. Sounds like a lot, but the pretty result is worth it!
