Cute Father’s Day Cross Stitch Patterns

May 18, 2026 by Sarah White

As a crafter I tend to pay more attention to Mother’s Day than I do to Father’s Day, but fathers deserve love and stitched tokens of appreciation, too, so let’s take a look at some cute Father’s Day cross stitch patterns.

These nautical themed Father’s Day cross stitch patterns from Stitchrovia are nice, and pretty easy to stitch, too. Each one is 55 by 55 stitches, which comes out close to 4 inches/10 cm on 14 count fabric. Put yours in a hoop as shown or mount it on a card.

This colorful Happy Father’s Day design from Stitchissimo is really cute, and another one that could be framed or used as a card. At 60 by 60 stitches, it comes out to 5 inches or 12.7 cm square on 12 count fabric, or 4.3 inches/10.9 cm on 14 count. It uses five colors.

Remind your dad he’s number one with this easy cross stitch pattern from Bella Rose Craft. Using two colors, it easily fits in a four inch hoop when worked on 14 count fabric.

And if the dad in your life sports glasses, a beard and flannels, you can stitch up this Best Dad Ever project from Cross Stitch Lukovka. This one uses 14 colors and comes in at 62 by 78 stitches. On 14 count fabric that’s 4.33 by 5.51 inches, or 11.25 by 14.15 cm.

Of course we have to have some funny projects, like “Nacho average dad,” featuring father and child chips, from Stomp Creations. This one is meant to fit on a greeting card and measures 2.93 by 2.36 inches, or 7.4 by 6 cm, on 14 count fabric. That’s 41 by 33 stitches, and it looks like four colors.

Or you can remind dad that you’re his favorite with this sweet but salty design from Snarky Stitch Bitch. It uses nine colors and comes out about 9.4 inches/23.8 cm on 14 count fabric, with a stitch count of 131 by 131 stitches.

And if that’s not snarky enough for you, try this special award for dad from HH Stitchery and Supply. At 126 by 98 stitches, it comes out to 9 by 7 inches (22.9 by 17.8 cm) on 14 count fabric, uses eight colors and is suitable for framing and displaying in any place of honor in your home. Including the bathroom.

How to Travel with Cross Stitch

Cross stitch is not a craft I generally travel with (since I’m not that good at it, I prefer not to be moving while I’m doing it) but I’m sure there are lots of stitchers who would like to take their projects with them when they travel.

Koekoek has a post all about cross stitching on a plane, which is a great plan since it’s lots of uninterrupted time to work. As mentioned in the post, you should be able to bring embroidery needles (which tend not to be that sharp anyway) on an airplane with you.

Regulations in the United States say that scissors with blades up to 4 inches/10 cm are allowed in the cabin, but whether they are allowed by security as you pass through it is up to their discretion. And thread cutters that use a razor blade are not supposed to be allowed at any time.

Alternatives include bringing nail clippers to snip your threads, or pre-cutting thread and placing it on bobbins so you can stitch on the plane. Then pack scissors in your checked bag so you can cut any loose ends or extra long strands later.

Check out the post at Koekoek for more tips on traveling with cross stitch and suggestions for projects to pack when traveling. I’ve also written in the past about this post from Caterpillar Cross Stitch about traveling with cross stitch supplies and, importantly, what to do to make your screening as smooth as possible. And, importantly, what to do if the security agents question your supplies or want to confiscate anything you brought.

And that’s a great tip, too: if you are packing scissors in your carry on but you’re also checking a bag, pack extras there just in case.

Do you have any tips for traveling with cross stitch projects? I’d love to hear them. Also check out my post about planning a travel stitching kit.
