I was scrolling through the multitude of free cross stitch patterns over at Smart Cross Stitch the other day when this one caught my eye.
This girl dancing with her shadow cross stitch pattern is 88 by 132 stitches and uses 25 colors of thread. It features full cross stitch, back stitch and blends, and while they rate it as intermediate I might say it’s more advanced than that.
Either way, it’s beautiful and would be a great project to gift to a dancer in your life. The pattern was designed by Lyuba Vodenikova and is free to download.

One of the easiest ways to make a cross stitch project more personal is to add text to it. Whether you’re adding the names of people getting married to a generic floral cross stitch design, birth information to a project on theme with the new baby’s room or just adding a word or phrase that’s meaningful to you, adding words to cross stitch projects make them that much more special.
