D&D Cross Stitch Patterns

Sometimes I randomly come across a cross stitch pattern that makes me want to find more on the same theme. This time it was this set of 14 cross stitch patterns for the different Dungeons and Dragons classes (cleric, bard, ranger, rogue, etc.) from White Raven Patterns on Etsy.

These would be fun to make if you have a long-term game going where people are playing the same class (or for that one person who is always a sorcerer). The sizes and colors vary, but all of them fit in 10-inch hoops and use five or six colors.

As I looked for more DnD designs, I found another one from the same designer that is these gorgeous dice with different settings and dragons in the background. They have lots of great geekery in their collection if you’re looking for something else.

Needle Minder Lair on Etsy has this great D&D logo cross stitch pattern. Worked in a single shade of red, it measures 85 by 180 stitches, or 6.07 by 12.86 inches on 14 count fabric. Perfect for framing and hanging in your game room!

Speaking of art for your gaming space, add some more color with this rainbow-hued dice sword design from Wild Bluebell Patterns on Etsy. It uses seven colors and measures 34 by 131 stitches, so you can frame it or use it as a bookmark in your Monster Manual.

Welcome geeks and others to your home with this roll for initiative cross stitch pattern from Game Over Stitches on Etsy. It fits in an 8-inch hoop and is 98 by 94 stitches. It’s a super cute take on the traditional sampler.

And for those times when you just need to put everything in perspective, there’s this reminder from Etsy seller Happy Sloth Patterns. As long as it doesn’t actually kill you, there’s always XP to be gained. This design measures 107 by 71 stitches and fits in a 10-inch hoop when worked on 14-count fabric.

Easy Ways to Fancy Up Your Biscornu

The cross stitcher behind the blog Sirious Stitches is quite into biscornu.

If you’re not, a quick primer: biscornu are three-dimensional cross-stitched objects with eight points, often with an indention in the middle that makes them look a bit like doughnuts without the hole. They can be just about any size and subject you can think of. They’re often used as pincushions but can also be seasonal decor or just decoration for any time of year.

Once you’ve stitched one or several (they are a little addicting) you might wonder what you can add to them to make them even more extra.

It very much depends on the design of your biscornu and the look you are going for, but Sirious Stitches has a great post all about some of the options you might consider.

I don’t want to give you the whole list because you need to go visit and see all of their great biscornu they’ve stitched, but one really easy thing that you can do with a lot of designs is take advantage of that center indent by adding a button, beads, silk flower or another embellishment.

This is great to do just with a basic button from your stash that coordinates with the design and colors of the cross stitching, but it’s extra fun if you have a button that’s on theme, such as a leaf for a fall biscornu or a flower shaped button for a floral design. Add a jingle bell to a Christmas pattern, or a charm if you don’t have a button that coordinates.
