Clearly I wish I were traveling somewhere during spring break (happening as I write this where I live) because I have lately been drawn to cross-stitch patterns of landscapes nothing like the place I live.
The Beach Waves cross stitch pattern from Ugly Duckling House is a gorgeous, realistic-looking design of the ocean kissing the beach.
It’s really where I’d like to be right now.
It’s a free pattern but you have to sign up to receive updates to download the chart.
Well worth it for a little vacation in every stitch.

One of the easiest ways to make a cross stitch project more personal is to add text to it. Whether you’re adding the names of people getting married to a generic floral cross stitch design, birth information to a project on theme with the new baby’s room or just adding a word or phrase that’s meaningful to you, adding words to cross stitch projects make them that much more special.
