I have to admit I’d never thought of trying to change the color of cross-stitch cloth, especially considering all the cool colors and effects that are available to purchase these days.
But if you wanted to make a very specific color of fabric, you can do it at home. Do Small Things with Love has a tutorial for painting cross-stitch fabric with a special ingredient that makes regular paint work on fabric.
She tested it out and says the paint doesn’t affect the ability to cross stitch with the fabric.
Have you ever tried this? It seems like a lot of effort but also like it would be kind of fun.
Head to her site for the full tutorial.

One of the easiest ways to make a cross stitch project more personal is to add text to it. Whether you’re adding the names of people getting married to a generic floral cross stitch design, birth information to a project on theme with the new baby’s room or just adding a word or phrase that’s meaningful to you, adding words to cross stitch projects make them that much more special.
