Modern Wedding Cross Stitch Patterns

July 20, 2024 by Sarah White

Lots of people seem to get married in the summer and fall, so if you’ve got a wedding on your list of social engagements soon, you might want to stitch up a wedding cross stitch pattern.

There are so many of these types of patterns out there it’s really hard to narrow it down, but here are a few that caught my eye on a recent browse around the Internet.

This design from Modern X Stitch features white roses and greenery, but you could change the colors if you know the colors of flowers the couple is using. It includes the first names of the couple and the wedding date and includes a full alphabet and numbers for easy customization. It uses 15 colors and is 10 inches by 10.2 inches on 14 count fabric (that’s 25.4 by 26 cm).

Hoop Modern Stitch has this minimalist design with branches curved into a heart shape and the names and date in the middle. It uses a single color of thread (match the fabric to the color of bridesmaid’s dresses if you know it for extra sweetness) and measures 140 by 130 stitches, which is 10 by 9.29 inches or 25.4 by 23.6 cm on 14 count fabric.

DMC has a free chart for a more colorful heart shaped floral wreath that you could tuck the names or initials of the couple into when you stitch it. It uses 10 colors, which you can alter if you like to suit the color story of the wedding or the couple’s home.

LoveCrafts has a ton of wedding themed cross stitch patterns, so it’s tough to pick just one to highlight, but I love this one with an Art Deco flair. It can be worked as a wedding or anniversary gift, and this one is a full kit with the chart, 16 count cream colored fabric, thread and an organizer for the threads.

Bring a little modern geometric style to the wedding party with the floral wedding cross stitch pattern from Sassy Fox Cross Stitch. This one uses nine colors and is 143 by 128 stitches, which comes out to 10.2 by 9.1 inches or 25.9 by 23.2 cm on 14 count fabric.

Want to stitch something special for an ourdoorsy couple? Life is a Journey Best Traveled Together by One of a Kind Baby Design is a fully personalized chart. You include the names (and presumably, genders) of the couple and you can also change the pets and I think you can add children as well/instead of pets. What a fun way to make it personal without having to do all the modifications yourself!

And if you need a quick cross stitch project to celebrate the happy couple, why not send them a toast? This punny greeting card comes from Stomp Creations, and it looks like it uses four colors. It measures 33 by 37 stitches so you’ll be able to stitch it up in no time for a wedding greeting card the couple is sure to treasure.

D&D Cross Stitch Patterns

My husband is a D&D player from way back and still does role playing with his friends most weekends. There are lots of great D&D cross stitch patterns, but somehow the ones that caught my eye this time have a theme of being about the D&D classes or involving dice (or both).

I love this collection of the D&D classes done as tarot cards. These would be so fun to stitch up for all the people in your party, or make the full set as one big wall hanging for the game room. There are 16 patterns total (just a few are shown here) and each one just uses three colors. The designs are from GlitchStitchAU.

This set kind of reminds me of astrological signs, though I can’t really say why. This set of 16 designs from White Raven Patterns is color coordinated so it sort of makes a rainbow if you stitch all of them. The dungeon master one is more colorful. Each one uses five or six colors and fits in a 10-inch hoop.

Combining character classes and dice we get this set of 14 designs from Stitch it Picasso. Each one includes the class name and a die with a number on it, as well as some images that make sense for that class (the bard has a lute and music notes, for example). Each design is around 90 by 90 stitches and they use 13 to 19 colors each, depending on the design.

Or you can make patches that look like dice with this D20 dice bundle from Non Player Creation. The patches are inspired by the four seasons, but you could change up the colors to suit your campaign setting if you like. They are 31 by 35 stitches and use between nine and 12 colors depending on the season.

And speaking of D20s, this little dragon might be protecting your dice or cursing them, it’s hard to tell. It’s kind of cute, though! The design is from Cross Stitch Wow and measures 80 by 95 stitches. It fits in an 8-inch hoop and uses 16 colors.
