Sock Themed Cross Stitch Patterns

June 19, 2023 by Sarah White

I will admit this theme for a roundup, sock themed cross stitch patterns, is a little bit niche. But as a person who does a lot of different kinds of crafts, I love it when they can come together and overlap in different ways.

So when I saw the free pattern from Durene Jones cross stitch showing a sock missing a heel with the words “darn it,” I knew I had to share it. While holey socks happen to everyone, it’s particularly poignant to a person who knits, and especially to someone who has knit and darned a lot of socks. The design is 40 by 55 stitches and uses six colors in the cross stitch as well as black backstitching.

But I didn’t think one sock related cross stitch pattern was enough, so I went looking for more.

I found “You knock my socks of” from Nerdy Little Stitcher on Etsy, which features a happy little pair of socks you can stitch in whatever color you like. (Note: as of this writing the product description on the sales page is incorrect, so I can’t give you any details for sure.)

If you like your patterns printed, you can go old school to get a copy of this Sock Knitter cross stitch pattern from October House Fiber Arts. I love the little socks on the line, and you can make them whatever colors and patterns you like. Since I’ve designed socks I’d love to make this pattern with socks that look like socks I’ve actually made! It’s 107 by 63 stitches and uses six colors.

Or you can get a little sarcastic about socks with this printed pattern, designed by Imaginating and sold at 123 Cross Stitch. This black and white design declares that some days are just socks. You can decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Alrighty then, folks! We’ve reached the end of this fabulously cozy roundup of Sock Themed Cross Stitch Patterns. It’s been a wild ride filled with stitches, threads, and a whole lot of socky goodness. We hope you’ve had a blast exploring these charming designs that celebrate the wonders of everyone’s favorite foot warmers.

From funky patterned socks to adorable sock critters, these patterns have surely tickled your cross-stitching fancy. So, grab your needles, thread ’em up, and get ready to embark on a stitching adventure like no other. With these patterns, you can create personalized masterpieces that showcase your love for socks and your unique flair.

Now, it’s time to let your creativity soar. Feel free to mix and match colors, experiment with different stitches, and go wild with your own sock-themed designs. After all, cross-stitching is all about having fun, expressing yourself, and crafting something truly special.

We’d love to see your socktacular creations, so don’t forget to share your finished projects with the cross-stitching community. Spread the sock love far and wide, and inspire others to dive into this whimsical world of stitching delight.

A Cross Stitch I Spy at the Beach

That headline pretty much describes the Under the Sea cross stitch pattern from Una Buena Pieza, which is covered with shells, fish and other creatures of the sea. It’s not intended to be an I spy, I don’t think, and most of the same kinds of animals are grouped together, but I think it would be fun for someone who didn’t stitch it to look and see what different things they can find within.

The pattern includes turtles, jellyfish, a whale, shark, ray, all sorts of fish and shells and I’m sure other things that I’m not noticing right now. Dolphins! Coral! Seagulls!

It looks like it would be super fun to stitch and fun to have on the wall during the summer months, or even hang in a kid’s room if you know a young one who loves the beach or ocean animals.

The design is 110 by 220 stitches. It comes out to about 8 by 16 inches, or 20 by 40 cm, when stitched on 14 count fabric. It calls for 19 colors.

This design looks great on light blue fabric as shown, but in the pattern listing on Etsy you’ll also see what it looks like on a darker blue and a white fabric, and they all look pretty good so you can use whatever color you like to suit your decor or your idea of what color the “ocean” should be. There’s even a customer photo that looks like it was done on a sort of tie-dyed green fabricc, which is really fun.

However you stitch it, I think this project would go faster than you imagine because there are so many fun little things to stitch. It will be hard to get bored when you can just move on to a different animal or part of the design.

Check out this pattern from Una Buena Pieza on Etsy.
