Cross-stitch and embroidery go together really well, and sometimes it’s easier to use embroidery stitches to add words to a project, such as when you want to use your handwriting or a font that isn’t easily translated into squares.
The Craftsy blog has some great tips on how to embroider letters, starting with choosing a font and transferring your letters to the fabric, then using back stitch, stem stitch or split stitch to form the letters.
They all look great and would be good for different purposes depending on the style of the project you are adding words to. And of course these techniques can be used on non-cross-stitch projects, too, wherever you want to add a little personalization with stitching.
Have you ever embroidered letters on a project? I’d love to hear about it and know if you have any tips.
