Barbie Cross Stitch Patterns

July 27, 2023 by Sarah White

Everything’s coming up pink this summer, and if you’re a Barbie girl or guy you might want to stitch up some fun Barbie cross stitch patterns to celebrate.

Did you know Barbie was first released on March 9, 1959, and sold 300,000 dolls in her first year? She was inspired by the German doll Bild Lilli and developed by Ruth Handler because she saw a gap in the market for a more adult-looking doll, since most dolls at that time were babies.

This simple Barbie logo from My Cross Stitch Patterns is a classic for your playroom or anywhere else that needs a little Barbie boost. It’s worked in a single color and measures 120 by 60 stitches.

Or make the “Come on Barbie Let’s Go Party” design from Zodiac Stitch on Etsy. This one is 200 by 181 stitches and uses just one color and only full cross stitches, so it’s a good one for someone new to cross stitch.

If you want to make your own words in Barbie style, check out this Barbie-inspired font designed by Cherub Birks and available on Etsy. Make a design with your name or your favorite Barbie fan’s name for a unique gift.

Mixed Plate 8oh8 on Etsy has the Barbie silhouette pattern with a pink circle behind the head (you could also just stitch the black part if you don’t want all the pink, but who doesn’t want all the pink?). It’s 79 by 83 stitches and uses three colors.

Go classic Barbie with this vintage Barbie in her iconic black and white swimsuit. The design is from Etsy seller Eccentric Avenue and is 8 by 6 inches when worked on 18 count fabric.

This Barbie mini movie poster cross stitch pattern would be so cute as a patch on your jacket or bag. It comes from Needle Pop Crafts on Etsy and is a mere 22 by 33 stitches, or 1.6 by 2.4 inches on 14 count fabric and it uses six colors. You can stitch it up before you see the movie!

D&D Cross Stitch Patterns

My husband is a D&D player from way back and still does role playing with his friends most weekends. There are lots of great D&D cross stitch patterns, but somehow the ones that caught my eye this time have a theme of being about the D&D classes or involving dice (or both).

I love this collection of the D&D classes done as tarot cards. These would be so fun to stitch up for all the people in your party, or make the full set as one big wall hanging for the game room. There are 16 patterns total (just a few are shown here) and each one just uses three colors. The designs are from GlitchStitchAU.

This set kind of reminds me of astrological signs, though I can’t really say why. This set of 16 designs from White Raven Patterns is color coordinated so it sort of makes a rainbow if you stitch all of them. The dungeon master one is more colorful. Each one uses five or six colors and fits in a 10-inch hoop.

Combining character classes and dice we get this set of 14 designs from Stitch it Picasso. Each one includes the class name and a die with a number on it, as well as some images that make sense for that class (the bard has a lute and music notes, for example). Each design is around 90 by 90 stitches and they use 13 to 19 colors each, depending on the design.

Or you can make patches that look like dice with this D20 dice bundle from Non Player Creation. The patches are inspired by the four seasons, but you could change up the colors to suit your campaign setting if you like. They are 31 by 35 stitches and use between nine and 12 colors depending on the season.

And speaking of D20s, this little dragon might be protecting your dice or cursing them, it’s hard to tell. It’s kind of cute, though! The design is from Cross Stitch Wow and measures 80 by 95 stitches. It fits in an 8-inch hoop and uses 16 colors.
