Remembrance Day is celebrated around the world on Nov. 11 to remember the end of hostilities in World War I (in America we have Veteran’s Day, which serves the wider purpose of honoring veterans of all conflicts).
The classic symbol of remembrance in many countries is the poppy, and cross-stitched poppy patterns are a wonderful way to commemorate this solemn day.
Kinkalven Krosses has a pretty poppy pattern with a cross and the words “The Fallen will not be Forgotten.”
Crochet Club (site is in Russian) has a simple poppy chart you can use even if you can’t read the instructions.
Another pretty poppy chart can be found at Hancock’s House of Happy.
And if you’re willing to buy cross stitch poppy charts, the Lest We Forget collection designs at the Canadian site Peacock and Fig are lovely and meaningful. I particularly like the Flanders Field Poppies design, shown here.

Thanks so much for featuring one of my patterns from Peacock & Fig, that was a lovely surprise! As a veteran myself it was really important to design a collection of poppy patterns, it’s such a significant flower for those who have served and their families.
