I have a list of links that I like to check on every now and then to see what kind of free (and sometimes not free) cross stitch patterns they are offering. It had been a while since I visited Tango Stitch (which has a lot of great patterns for sale as well as free ones), and scrolling through their freebies I realized that there’s a little theme going on with avocado cross stitch projects I wanted to share.
There are in fact not one but two avocato patterns.
I think this one is my favorite (the one with the feet) where the cat looks like it is holding the pit that is its belly. This one uses six colors and is all full cross stitches, so it’s not too hard for beginners. The design is 111 by 111 stitches, which on 14 count fabric comes out to 20 by 20 cm, or about 8 inches square.
This avocado cat cross stitch pattern without legs is still pretty cute. It’s the same size as the other one and uses seven colors. It’s all full cross stitches and a little bit of back stitching for the whiskers.
The final one I’m so sorry I have to bring out the puns and say is a little bit cheeky, but it would be great to stitch up for that person in your life who loves bad puns (it might be me). In this one the avocado has legs and arms more like a person, and the face in to the back of the work. The pit is the avocado’s bottom.
This one uses eight colors and is totally made with full cross stitches, and again it measures 111 by 111 stitches.
Because they’re all the same size you could even make the full avocado collection for someone who loves avocados (or cats, or puns).
Which one of these is your favorite?
