Silly Goose Cross Stitch Patterns

March 24, 2026 by Sarah White

At the end of last year I sat in on a crafting trends webinar and one of the things that was mentioned that was going to be trending this year was ducks and geese. I don’t know if I’m seeing it because they said it or if there really are more ducks and geese around this year, but let’s celebrate the goose with these cute goose cross stitch patterns.

A lot of goose cross stitch patterns have a vintage look that is very much and 1980s kitchen wallpaper throwback. Like this one, designed by Summer McDonald and sold by Mary Stitching. It uses 12 colors and measures 197 by 185 stitches, which on 14 count fabric comes out to 14.1 by 13.2 inches, or 35.7 by 33.6 cm.

Another classic look one is this goose with a checked border offered by luzatolye. At 40 by 38 stitches, this little goose cross stitch pattern measures 2.8 by 2.7 inches, or about 7 cm almost square. It looks like it uses 5 colors.

Or how about geese with kerchiefs? This trio from Callie’s Cozy Crafts is billed (hah!) as French, but they look like little grannies to me. Either way, the pattern is 168 by 70 stitches, uses 6 colors and comes out to 12 by 5 inches, or 30.7 by 12.7 cm, on 14 count fabric.

There’s also a goose in galoshes (and a little bow) from Nala and Stitch. This little cutie is dressed in blue, but the designer also has a goose in yellow accessories including a straw hat if you’d rather. This one is 51 by 80 stitches and uses 11 colors. On 14 counte fabric it will measure 3.5 by 5.9 inches (9 by 15 cm).

If you’d rather a shoeless goose, another variation on the theme has just the bow. This one is by Calm Stitch Studio, and I love the little stitched frame and stripes around the goose, almost like he’s already hanging on the wall. At 92 by 141 stitches, this one comes out to 6.57 by 10 inches or 16.69 by 25.58 cm and uses 17 colors.

For a goose with a more natural setting, try this one from Olha Craft, which also has flowers and a ladybug. This one is 46 by 46 stitches (that’s about 3.3 inches or 8.35 cm square) and uses 9 colors.

Stitch a Colorful Cross Stitch Unicorn

I don’t know why the designer chose to call this design funny, but I guess that’s their business. This Unicorn funny cute magic animal free cross stitch pattern from Tango Stitch has a lengthy name but looks like a good potential use for all your leftover threads from other projects.

This unicorn is filled with all sorts of designs, from stripes and flowers to hearts and waves and things I’m not sure how to interpret. You certainly aren’t likely to get bored stitching this one because there’s a lot going on!

As shown it uses 13 colors, but I’ll bet you could make it even more colorful if you wanted to because there are colors that repeat in different places across the chart that you could change to different colors.

It’s plenty colorful as it is, though, and would be a great project to stitch for someone who loves fantasy and lots of colors. Or leave off the horn and make it for a horse lover who also enjoys lots of color. Either way it’s a fun project for you and for them.

One thing that’s nice about this project, too, is that it only uses full cross stitches, so while it looks complicated it’s just a matter of following the chart, there aren’t any difficult techniques, partial stitches or even back stitching involved in this project.

And even if you got off count a little bit I doubt anyone would notice because there’s so much going on here.

The design is 111 by 111 stitches, which comes out to almost 8 inches or 20 cm square when stitched on 14 count fabric. It’s shown on white cross stitch fabric but I think it would be really pretty on light blue, too. Or you could coordinate it with the unicorn’s hair, or use whatever color you have on hand.
