There are lots of cross-stitch patterns that use fall leaves as a motif (and I’m sure I’ll be sharing more than this one) but this maple leaf from CrossStitchPattern.net is one of the prettiest I have seen.
It shows the leaf as it is changing color, so it includes bits of red, orange and yellow in the design. Bits is probably an accurate word because it uses 20 different colors in this design, which gives it the gorgeous look of a real leaf.
This is not a design for beginners because of all the color changes. Another option might be to find some variegated floss in fall leaf colors and see if you could get a similar effect, but it won’t be the same. This one is definitely worth the effort of buying every fall color of floss on the shelf. Stash building, right?
