I’m a sucker for a good bookmark, especially a hand-crafted one, and cross-stitch bookmarks are some of my favorites to make (see my pencil cross stitch bookmark I made recently).
This set of five fall bookmark cross stitch patterns would be fun to stitch up and have on hand if you host Thanksgiving and have readers in your family, or to give as gifts to teachers and others who you are grateful for in the fall and all the other times. Tuck into a card or give along with a gift card to your favorite local bookshop.
The designs are by Author Embroide Design, and they are all pretty cute:
- A scarecrow with the words “Fall is in the air” and leaves falling around him
- “Happy pumpkin spice season” decorated with pumpkins, sunflowers and other symbols of the season
- A turkey and pumpkin with the words “Thankful & blessed”
- A fall farm scene with the words “autumn time
- A super cute fall gnome holding a pumpkin that includes the words “It’s fall y’all”
The designs call for 16 count fabric and are 29 by 112 stitches. That comes out to 1.18 by 7 inches or 4.6 by 17.78 cm.
Different colors are needed for different designs, but they range from 14 colors (pumpkin spice) to 17 (for the fall gnome). That’s a lot for such a relatively small project, but the results are worth it because you can get a lot of detail in there by using different colors.

Because if you ask me you can’t have too many bookmarks (and they make great gifts that you can start stitching now).
